their cribs for an afternoon nap or night’s sleep, babies can

the world with the newly released album Sleep, Little One by Debra
McDavid. The compact disc album debuts today and features ten traditional
lullabies from various cultural origins including Irish, German,
Latin American and Japanese. A portion of the proceeds from each

“Sleep, Little One has been a vision of mine for quite some
time,” said Debra McDavid. “I have been performing in
front of live audiences for years. Some of my most special audiences
have been children and I have seen first hand how they respond to
music. It has been a special gift to make an album for children,
which will benefit children.”
McDavid, a native of Texas and current resident of Atlanta, Ga.,
holds a Master of Music Degree from Yale University and a Bachelor
of Music Degree from the University of North Texas. She made her
international debut in Oviedo, Spain, as the featured soloist with
the Orquesta Sinfonica Del Principado De Asturias, singing Benjamin
Britten’s Les Illumination, and was hailed “an American
soprano of exquisite musicianship and of unquestionable expressive
elegance” (La Nueva Espana). In addition to performing regularly
at festival concerts and teaching a series of masterclasses in Brazil,
McDavid has sung leading roles with Central City Opera, Denver Symphony,
Liederkranz Opera in New York City, Yale University and the Shubert
Theatre in Connecticut and the University of North Texas.
Drawing from a background in both opera and musical theatre, McDavid
presents yet another side of her singing ability. McDavid shows her
vocal diversity on Sleep, Little One by singing in a soft, folk-like
style with hush tones that are the perfect compliment for lullabies.
McDavid’s Sleep, Little One takes listeners on a voyage around
the globe through the following song selections:
1. Manx Lullaby – Isle of Mann
2. Suliram – Indonesian
3. The Garten Mother’s Lullaby – Irish
4. Tum-Balalayka – Yiddish
5. Sleep, Sleep Little One – Japanese

Theatre, Brevard Music Center’s Summer Opera Program, Interlochen
Center for the Arts, the Georgia State University Singers, and the

husband, Tom McDavid, violinist/violist.
In addition to eliciting sweet slumber, Sleep, Little One will help
fund research and hope for children with cancer. McDavid is donating
a portion of the album’s proceeds to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation,
a non-profit organization that has funded over $2.2 Million in research
grants to leading institutions including St. Joseph’s Children’s

of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation is to fund childhood cancer research
